Volant Cold Air intake installation instructions

  • 1. Items Required:
  • Volant kit
  • Straight slot screwdriver – To help pry the throttle body sleeve on the snorkel
  • Philips screwdriver – For the Volant air box cover
  • 5/16 nut driver – for the clamps
  • 5/32 Allen wrench – for the MAS-to-air horn screws (supplied by Volant)
  • 10mm socket and ratchet – to remove stock airbox
  • 10 mm Gear wrench – to attach Volant airbox THIS IS A MUST HAVE!
  • Non-hardening Permatex or other non-hardening gasket set up adhesive. (optional)


    Pre-work
  • Empty contents of Volant shipping box and check inventory
  • None
  • Remove the airbox cover w/Phillips screw driver
  • Wipe all parts down and check for plastic flashings removing if necessary
  • None
  • Remove the plastic covering the filter element
  • None
  • Check inside the Volant filter for neoprene flashings and remove if necessary
  • None
  • Test fit the air horn to the air-box to align the bolt holes

  • With chalk or silver Sharpie mark the side of the air horn where the 12 o’clock hole is.
  • None



    Installation

    Remove Radiator cover
    With 5/16 nut driver loosen all clamps None
    Slide MAS end of snorkel off MAS sleeve None
    Slide throttle end of snorkel off throttle body None
    Remove snorkel None
    Slide MAS off airbox None
    Remove snorkel-to-MAS sleeve and clamp from MAS None
    With 10mm ratchet remove 3 airbox bolts None
    Remove airbox None
    Use a very small amount of non-hardening Permatex on airhorn-side of airhorn-to-air-box gasket None
    Place gasket on airhorn and let set None
    With 5/32 Allen wrench preassemble air horn w/gasket and MAS on Volant box None
    Assemble air-box sleeve, clamps and snorkel to MAS-airbox assembly (do not tighten) None
    Put throttle body sleeve on throttle body w/both clamps loose None
    Set snorkel-MAS-airbox assembly into car None
    Bolt the airbox to the radiator support using the Gear wrench (Much wiggling, jiggling, pulling and pushing to accomplish above) None
    Slide snorkel into throttle body sleeve None
    Tighten all snorkel clamps, do not over tighten None
    Slide air filter on air horn and tighten clamp, do not over tighten None
    Install airbox cover None
    Install radiator cover None

    Post-installation

  • Clear all tools from engine compartment
  • Start engine and listen for air leaks
  • Test drive - Woo Hoo!
  • After test drive recheck clamps
